Well hello again!

I’ve been missing in action here…and I apologize for that. Things have been very busy lately, and unfortunately that has taken away from my time to write blogs and share fun things. I am putting my foot down and changing that! Right now!

So, I thought I’d come back and share a tidbit about me…

My name is April … and I’m obsessed with office supplies…especially writing utensils…of all different varieties …come one come all! I am like a kid in a candy store when I step into an office supply store (heck, even just an office supply isle makes me happy)! This love goes hand in hand with another…

I have always love to write, both in word and the actual physical act of writing. There is something about pen to paper that is so soothing and cathartic for me. (Even in this digital age, I will 95% of the time choose pen and paper over an electronic glowing device). I love the resistance that paper gives your pencil, how I can control every single little movement to match the idea I have in my head, and how I am able to use my hands to create things that make me happy.

For years I’ve also loved quotes. I have collected hundreds of quotes, and have them all written down in special books. I would spend hours writing the quotes out that I had gathered, and then make them unique by adding embellishments, doodles, drawings, color, or stylizing the way I wrote the words. For more years that I want to count, I have loved sitting down and writing words out, over and over, in different styles, different mediums, or with different creative twists to them. I lose myself in the whole process. It brings me such joy (and is a huge stress relief to me as well)! But…in all honesty, I’ve always thought I was crazy and the only one who had this passion. People always comment on my penmanship, but when I would try to explain how deep my love and passion for my penmanship goes, I would lose most.

That was until recently … when I caught wind that there is a large community out there that also has the same passion that I do…for LETTERING! I now know that there is a name/term/description for what I’ve spent my whole life doing! Lettering! I love it! Lately I have been diving in deeper and deeper, finding new techniques, trying new things, learning loads, and loving every second of it. It has also helped me to rediscover what I have a passion for and given me a daily focal point. I love lettering! I lose myself in lettering! I may look odd writing the word orange over and over again, but you know what … I don’t care! hehehe

Along with this discovery has come more fun, I am forcing myself to be creative/artistic on a daily basis. This includes taking part in daily, weekly, and monthly prompt based challenges found online. I think everyone should be creative on a daily basis. It is good for the soul!
